Safety and Side Effects
Restylane, Perlane and Juvéderm contain only minimally modified hyaluronic acid, which is a natural constituent of human tissues. It is biocompatible and very safe. There are no contraindications to the use of these products and precautions are mainly those that should be observed for any filler injection.
Some injection related reactions may develop, such as transient redness, itching, swelling, pain, tenderness, or discoloration at the treatment site. Typically, resolution is spontaneous, occurring from one to two days after injections in the skin, or a week after injection in the lips.
Usually there is no recovery time with the hyaluronic acid fillers. The exception is the lips, where the swelling may be noticeable for up to one week. If there is any bruising, it is usually gone within a week, but we have ways to make bruising disappear much more quickly, so you should call us if it occurs.
