Dermal filler treatment is one of the greatest advances in modern, non-surgical aesthetic medicine. These products can improve the signs of aging, including wrinkles, lines, folds, thin lips, and sunken cheeks. There are several types of fillers, each with its own unique properties. Hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvéderm, Perlane, and Restylane) are the best known, and they provide immediate results. Newer additions to the world of dermal fillers include long lasting Radiesse and Sculptra. One or several different fillers may be used, depending on your specific needs. Every patient is different, so every cosmetic treatment is customized for optimal results.

Hyaluronic acid fillers

Juvéderm, Perlane, and Restylane are similar formulas, with the most significant difference being the consistency. Thinner formulas are ideal for delicate contours, shallow wrinkles, and other small, precise areas. Thicker formulas tend to have more structure and resilience for deep folds and other areas where a significant amount of volume has been lost.

Sculptra

Sculptra™, which has been called a “liquid facelift,” restores the fullness and youthfulness of the face, restoring the volume lost with aging, to correct the signs of facial soft tissue loss. It has been said that an infant’s face resembles an inflated beach ball, while the face of an elderly person resembles a deflated beach ball. Aging is characterized by loss of volume, resulting in a marked hollowing of the face causing sagging of the skin due to the loss of underlying support, including connective tissue and bone, combined with the loss of skin elasticity.

Sculptra is a unique product that does not produce any immediate changes. Instead, it stimulates your own body to create new, healthy collagen, gradually replacing lost volume from within. You may notice an immediate reduction in wrinkles, but this is actually caused by post-injection swelling, due to the water content in the Sculptra. In a few days, the swelling will disappear, and the genuine results begin developing about six weeks after treatment. Sculptra is the only filler product that frequently causes noticeable improvement of the skin surface.

Dermal Fillers at California Skin & Laser Center explained by Dr. Gerald Bock

Dermal Fillers at California Skin & Laser Center explained by Dr. Gerald Bock
Are you someone wondering what are Dermal Fillers? Then this video is for you. Dr. Gerald Bock from California Skin & Laser Center explains all about Dermal Fillers in this video.

What are Dermal Fillers?

There is a vast variety of Dermal Fillers made available, California Skin & Laser Center uses only a selected few of these as there is an overlap in various fillers.

Why do we need Dermal Fillers?

As we age, we tend to lose volume in our face. We also experience hollows in our face, which leads to skin sagging. Dermal fillers help us to replace this volume in the face, which will improve the appearance of hollowness and also help correct skin sagging.

What are the Dermal Fillers used at your office?

In our office, we use the following Dermal fillers.

  • Restylane
  • Restylane Lyft
  • Juvederm (Juvederm Ultra Plus)
  • Voluma
  • Radiesse

Radiesse

At California Skin & Laser Center, we are pleased to offer Radiesse, one of our most commonly used soft tissue fillers. Dr. Bock uses more Radiesse than any other injector in the Central Valley.

Radiesse is formulated with tiny calcium (25 to 45 micron) hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in aqueous gel. Like Restylane, Juvéderm, and other common fillers, Radiesse delivers instant results, and then the body gradually absorbs the gel over several months. However, unlike most fillers, it has the benefit of stimulating natural collagen production. Therefore, as the filler dissipates, it is replaced by natural soft tissue, making this an exceptionally durable and long lasting product. Price is also an important differentiating point. A syringe of Radiesse provides the filling power of two syringes of Restylane or Juvéderm, making it the most cost-effective filler.
