![]() California Radiesse TreatmentsRadiesse soft tissue fillerAt California Skin & Laser Center, we are pleased to announce the availability of Radiesse, as an addition to our selection of injectable soft tissue fillers. Radiesse is a synthetic filler consisting of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres 25 to 45 microns in size. These are suspended in an aqueous gel and consistently shaped and sized, and have proven to elicit very little long term adverse reaction when injected into the skin. Radiesse behaves somewhat similarly to Restylane (find out more about our California Restylane treatments on the Restylane page), and is moldable immediately after injection. We now have developed techniques that make the injection of fillers an almost painless experience.
What sets Radiesse apart from other dermal fillers? Durability, longevity, and versatility. The unique composition of Radiesse provides the immediate visual improvement common with other fillers, along with the benefit of long-lasting results. Over time, your own soft tissue replaces the gel carrier, with the newly formed collagen matrix providing the desired long-term effect. These unique advantages make Radiesse the ideal choice to correct many signs of facial aging or to add natural contours to the face. Experience has shown that it lasts one year or longer. Radiesse is suitable for facial lines and grooves, such as filling the "marionette" lines and the grooves between the sides of the nose and the corners of the mouth. It is also very useful in filling in the hollows of the cheeks and in enhancing the cheek bones, but is not used in the lip or in very shallow lines. BenefitsRadiesse is a long lasting filler that is very good for replacing deep tissue loss. It stimulates the body to create new collagen so, at least in theory, repeated treatments should have additive effects. AlternativesOther fillers, currently the hyaluronic acid fillers (Restylane & Juvéderm), can be substituted for Radiesse. Safety and side effectsRadiesse appears to be very safe. Swelling, bruising and rare lumpiness have been observed with all fillers. Irregularity appears to be less of a problem with Radiesse when compared to many other fillers. Questions and AnswersHow does it work? Radiesse acts as a volume enhancer and stimulates the body to make new collagen. Who is a candidate? Anyone with deep tissue loss (almost anyone over 35) is a candidate. What can i expect? You should notice immediate filling after Radiesse injection. There can be temporary mild swelling or bruising. What is the recovery time? Unless there is bruising, the only recovery time is a few days for the mild swelling to disappear. Does it hurt? We usually inject local anesthetic either before or with the Radiesse, and we use ice to numb the injection sites. Before-treatment instructions: You should tell Dr. Bock about all the medicines that you are taking. If possible avoid aspirin, blood thinners, Vitamin E and ibuprofen and related pain medications for about 10 days before the procedure. After-treatment instructions: If there is swelling you can take Benadryl. If there is discomfort, you can use Advil or related products. Who Performs the treatments? Only Dr. Bock injects fillers.
