Gerald N. Bock, MD: California Cosmetic Surgery

Thank you for visiting the California Skin & Laser Center online. I have personally written the entire content of this web site and tried to make it as informative and as objective as possible. I would like you to be well informed, and hopefully you'll choose us to serve you on the basis of this information.

We live in an exciting time when there have been very significant advances in our ability to improve the appearance of our patients, frequently with minimal down time. We also live in a time when information travels rapidly and when companies and practitioners sometimes promise or imply a lot more than they can deliver.

If you choose us to provide cosmetic services, we hope to develop a long term relationship, as we have with many other patients. That means that we will spend enough time to learn what you desire and what fits into your lifestyle and budget. We will realistically discuss the available options and the pros and cons of each procedure. We depend on the goodwill of our patients and our reputation in the community. We would rather not perform any procedure than perform one that is likely to result in an unhappy patient.

There is no procedure without risk, and we not only will explain the potential risks, but we take every step possible to reduce risk. That is why all of our procedures are performed under local anesthesia, the safest approach available.

We will do our very best to answer all your questions, and we try, when necessary, to be available 24 hours a day. We have a patient advocate, Nancy Feldman, who is available anytime to help you over any problems or difficulties that might occur.

Thank you for considering California Skin & Laser Center. To schedule a consultation, please call us at 800-500-5842 or 209-956-4260.

If you have not yet viewed the video about our practice, I would encourage you to take a few minutes and watch it.

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Gerald N. Bock

Dr. Bock graduated with honors from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and subsequently was a fellow in the Allergy and Immunology Branch of the National Institute of Health. He trained in pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, and in both allergy and dermatology at the University of Colorado. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology, the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Pediatrics. He has special certification in dermatopathology by the Boards of Dermatology and Pathology, is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS).

Dr. Bock's Professional Positions

He is a past president of the Sacramento Valley Dermatologic Society and the San Joaquin County Medical Society. Dr. Bock is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and has been on the teaching faculty of the dermatology departments at Stanford University Medical School and The University of California at San Francisco Medical School. He has lectured at the American Academy of Dermatology meetings. For a number of years he was meeting director for the Sacramento Valley Dermatologic Society's Winter Meeting.

Dr. Bock's Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology Experience

For almost 20 years, Dr. Bock has been pioneering cosmetic advances in the Central Valley. He was the first physician to perform liposuction in Stockton, California, and has worked hard to make reasonably priced, safer cosmetic procedures available. He received training in cosmetic procedures during his residency and has kept current by attending multiple courses and seminars each year and by visiting and working with other physicians who perform similar procedures.

Dr. Bock's Philosophy about Cosmetic Procedures

Dr. Bock believes that most people want to look better, not different. They don't want people to ask who did their cosmetic procedure, but just to be told that they look good or refreshed. He believes that people want as little down time as possible and that this is an important consideration in choosing the appropriate cosmetic procedure. Safety is a very important consideration, and if a non-surgical procedure can give results equal to a surgical procedure, the non-surgical procedure is preferable. If surgery is to be done, it should be done in the safest way possible. That means using local anesthesia with oral sedation. No general anesthesia or intravenous sedation is used.

Dr. Bock is committed to keeping California Skin & Laser Center the premier cosmetic facility in Northern California. He attends numerous continuing education courses to keep current with the latest advances in dermatology and cosmetic procedures. So far in 2007, these included the four-day Facial Cosmetic Surgery Symposium, the Aesthetic Eyelid and Orbitofacial Surgery Symposium at the Jules Stein Eye Institute and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology annual meeting. So far in 2008 he is scheduled to attend the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting and the Aging Face Symposium.

Dr. Bock has also committed himself to bringing the most advanced and proven technologies to the California Skin & Laser Center. Because of the very wide variety of treatments available at the center, each patient can be assured that the approach recommended represents the most current and state of the art treatment. Dr. Bock has added the Sciton laser, the upgraded Fraxel re:store laser and the Fraxel re:pair laser, all very significant improvements to previously available tools for scarring, brown spots, skin texture improvement and wrinkle removal. He has also brought significant filler advances -- including Radiesse and Juvéderm -- to the Central Valley.

As a dedicated advocate of exercise, Dr. Bock has completed over ten marathons, multiple 100-mile bicycle rides, and the "Davis Double" 200-mile bicycle ride. He also is a devoted photographer and a pilot. He enjoys travel and recently visited Mali in northern Africa. Dr. Bock and his wife Mary have lived and worked in the Stockton cosmetic surgery community for over 30 years.

At California Skin & Laser Center, Dr. Bock works with an extraordinarily talented and caring team of skilled California cosmetic surgery and California facelift professionals including several Registered Nurses, licensed Estheticians, a skin care consultant, a makeup artist, a cosmetic coordinator, and a patient advocate. All are highly trained and together offer decades of experience in helping people look and feel their best. They will work as a team to help you, and your skin, look more youthful and vibrant.
