Arctic Peel

What is the Arctic Peel™?

The Arctic Peel™ is a minimally invasive peel. It is painless and performed in a 30-minute appointment. There is no anesthesia used, but you will control the stream of air from the Zimmer Cooler, hence the name Arctic Peel™.

Who should consider the Arctic Peel™?

The Arctic Peel™ is for someone, of any skin type, who wants the benefits of a microdermabrasion, but more. Results are similar to those obtained with microdermabrasion. However, just one Arctic Peel has the same positive effect on skin enhancement as 3 to 5 microdermabrasion treatments. A series of 5 Arctic Peels™ has a cumulative effect that is frequently significantly greater than that can be obtained with a large number of microdermabrasions

How is the Arctic Peel™ different from microdermabrasion?

The Arctic Peel™ is similar in depth to a more aggressive microdermabrasion. However, because of the precise computer control of the Arctic Peel™, it is possible to get partial overlapping of the laser pulses, as well as to assure that the entire area to be treated is uniformly treated. This results in a more uniform, longer lasting result and, with a series of treatments, results that are frequently superior to those producible my microdermabrasion.

How often does an Arctic Peel™ need to be done?

While you should notice distinct improvement after your first Arctic Peel™, for the best, and longest lasting results, we recommend a series of 5 treatments, at monthly intervals.

What can you expect from the Arctic Peel™?

Any visible damage to the skin surface is minimal. Patients will be slightly red for 24 to 48 hours and a slight peeling of the very surface of the skin similar to that seen from a mild sunburn. However, you can go back into public immediately without any downtime. The Arctic Peel™ is a minimally invasive peel. Some decrease in sun damage may occur and the skin will take on a more polished appearance. The procedure is not effective for deep lines and wrinkles or scarring. However some fine lines may soften considerably after a series of treatments. Again, this is a minimally invasive - no downtime - procedure that is tolerated well and associated with no severe side effects or complications. The only significant exception is a flare up of herpes simplex in someone who carries the virus. It is important that you notify us if you have ever had a herpes infection anywhere on your face. If so, we will start you on oral antiviral medication.

What type anesthesia is used?

No anesthesia is required for the Arctic Peel™. The Zimmer Cooler provides good relief from the minimal discomfort associated with the procedure.

Do you have to wear any type dressing or bandage after the procedure?

No dressing or bandage is needed after the Arctic Peel™. We carry an extremely mild and excellent moisturizer that you ma get, and use, if you wish.

Why should you choose California Skin & Laser Center to have the Arctic Peel™?

First, to the best of our knowledge, we are the only facility south of Sacramento to offer this procedure. At this time, there is no other laser out there that is able to perform comparably. Second, and equally important, at California Skin & Laser Center, our major concerns are your satisfaction, your comfort, your privacy, and your safety. All treatments are supervised or performed by a board-certified dermatologist with many years of successful experience in a large variety of cosmetic procedures. We have many treatment modalities available and can recommend the one or two that are most likely to meet your needs. In many ways, it is important for us to continue to have happy, satisfied patients. We are here to meet your needs and to try to help you realize your aspirations.
